EC Radio FEATURE – Max Bailey!

February 25, 2015

Hey there faithful listeners!

We’ll be having a special guest coming down to our very studio this coming Friday and his name is Max Bailey.

Max is an acoustic folk singer-songwriter, and a darn good one at that. Tune in to Jordan Lindley’s Spotlight on Local Music on Friday, Feb 27 at 6:00PM to hear Max pluck his strings and talk about his music for a while!

Check this awesome dude out on his very own website:

Want to Relax During the Winter Blues? How About Some Winter Tunes!

February 11, 2015

The winter storms are (hopefully) almost over, but there’s still an obscene amount of snow on the ground outside, and that’s scary!

So, need some music to curl up next to a fire and weep over the fact that it will take you roughly six hours to dig you car out from under the unrelenting snow to?

Search no more!

Here, in my figurative hand, I hold a small trio of songs that could help you relax and keep you from getting cabin fever this week.

First off, a song by a good friend and student of Emmanuel College – Joe Deauna with his single, “Breathe”

This next song should help with your snow-sleepies. It’s Lake Street Dive‘s famous cover of Jackson Five‘s “I Want You Back,” being played on a sunny Boston sidewalk, oddly enough!

And finally, an acoustic wonder that had me picking my jaw up off of the floor with great difficulty, it’s a live performance of Hozier‘s “To Be Alone”

So sit back, listen, and try not to think about the tundra that is outside your doorstep with these songs lulling you deeper into your couch or bed, and even deeper still into a cup of tea or hot cocoa.

Stay tuned for some more frequent updates on some exciting EC Radio happenings, coming soon!

An argument for local music:

November 17, 2014

Here at EC Radio, we encourage, or rather implore all of our faithful listeners to seek out local musicians. Local music keeps a community connected in some way, and it keeps a very important art alive in every nook and cranny of our cities and towns.

Without musicians creating, composing, and performing just because of how much they truly love doing so, a powerful form of sharing emotion and thought might dissipate into nothing but a mere scramble for money and the biggest hits.

If you don’t believe me, here’s and example of what local musicians can do when they finally get noticed:

Keep on listening, friends.

There are too many feelings here to handle

November 10, 2014

Justin Vernon of Bon Iver decided to go ahead and make everyone weep uncontrollably by playing a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.”

This beauty stems just from one human being playing a piano and singing his heart out.

This is what music is all about.

Jazz? Hip-Hop? Jazz-Hop? Hip-Jazz?

November 3, 2014

Do you like Jazz?

Do you like Hip-Hop?

¿Por qué no las dos?

Toronto-native band BADBADNOTGOOD would like to bridge the gap between the two contrasting genres for you. This three piece group tours the northeast regularly and, in fact, they’re coming to Boston on December 3rd!

But really, check these guys out. There’s a lot of talent just waiting to be heard here.

Here’s just a taste… a cover of Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights”

Enjoy the tunes, and tune in to EC Radio for more great music!
